In order of impact per dollar spent:

Rearrange your furniture. Free. Takes an hour. Can completely change how a room feels and functions. Most people push everything against the walls — try floating your sofa or angling a chair. Create conversation areas, not a furniture lineup.
Paint one wall. $30 for a gallon of paint. An accent wall in the right color can completely redefine a room. Currently loving deep greens, warm terracottas, and moody navys.
Upgrade your lighting. Bad lighting makes every room look bad. Period. Add a floor lamp, swap a dated fixture, or just change your bulbs to warm-toned LEDs. This alone can change the entire vibe.
